You Were Watching Anyway

Tonight you’ll watch an episode. Probably two. trill just makes sure you walk away with more than a cliffhanger.

Let’s be honest about your evening. Dinner, couch, one episode. Then “just one more.” Then it’s 1am and you know a suspicious amount about a fictional family’s inheritance dispute.

None of that is a problem. It’s the best part of your day. I just think it’s a shame to waste it.

You don’t need more time to learn a language. You need to stop throwing away the time you already spend in it.

The backstoryI built this because I was stuck

I did the apps. Daily goals, gems, hearts, a cartoon mascot guilt-tripping me at 11pm. I kept that streak alive like a houseplant.

Then one night I put on a show I loved, in the language I’d been “learning” for ages, and caught almost nothing. The same handful of words I’d known forever. Subtitles on. Again.

The streak was doing great. My language wasn’t.

The silly part? Shows were the reason I started learning in the first place. Somewhere along the way the app became the point, and the thing I loved turned into a reward I never got to.

SoFlip it around

trill doesn’t ask you to find time for lessons. It sits quietly next to whatever you’re watching and listens. No pausing. No pop quizzes mid-scene. No “are you still learning?”

When the credits roll, your liner notes are waiting: the words, grammar and expressions from that episode, explained in your own language. Five minutes of review, built from lines you actually cared about.

The show stays the show. The learning is a bonus.

You were watching anyway. Might as well keep something.

Try it on tonight’s episode.
